Asturias

Astonishing photographs taken by Graham Finlayson in France and in the Leon region, Northern Spain, in the summer of 1968.

Test driver Jim Graham had driven MWK down through France, into Asturias, for a rendezvous with supermodel Veruschka von Lehndorff and her photographer boyfriend Franco Rubartelli. The two were one of the most famous photographer-model couples of the 1960s and Veruschka graced the cover of every international edition of Vogue during this period. Jaguar had arranged for a fashion shoot in the Leon countryside, featuring Veruschka and the new XJ6. For the journey through France MWK was camouflaged with cardboard and tape, as this was prior to the official model launch. Some of the photos capture the car in various states of concealment, and Jim Graham undertaking tests on the car fluids such as on the Mulsanne Straight and at the Zamora reservoir in Spain.
